Carnegie Hall - December 11th, 1943

DUKE ELLINGTON Carnegie Hall - December 11th, 1943 (1978 UK 22-track mono double live LP of Ellington's second Carnegie Hall visit, with the band including Ray Nance, Rex Stewart, Johnny Hodges and Harry Carney. This concert is significant asit saw the introduction of the suite 'New World's A-Coming', with some great moments of stride piano, also included is the obligatory hits medley, alongside a selection of both new and proven material. Ellington fans will appreciate the opportunity of hearing an entire concert by this great ensemble from a period in the middle of a recording ban imposed by the musician's union, gatefold picture sleeve. The sleeve shows light shelfwear and the vinyl is Excellent with the odd light sign of play EMBD2001)
