THE MODERN JAZZ SEXTET The Modern Jazz Sextet (Rare 1956 UK 5-track LP on the Clef trumpeter Columbia label, featuring the Piano of John Lewis & Bass of Percy Heath united with the Trumpet of Dizzy Gillespie, the Alto of Sonny Stitt, Skeeter Beston Guitar & Charlie Persip on Drums. This fantastic set opens with two Gillespie originals & finishes with a tribute to Bird which was co-authored by Dizzy & Sonny Stitt. The flimsy fully laminated scalloped flipback picture sleeve shows a little wear, as is almost inevitable in fifty five years, but the shelfwear is far less than normally seen & it is free from any splits or tears. The vinyl too is in astonishing condition &, although obviously played, shows just a few light hairline marks even now. A nice copy of this rare issue at an advantageous price! 33CX10048)
