Performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Sir John Barbirolli. It was perhaps Brahm's curse to have beenrecognised as a genius at a very young age, for he was a modest man who did not like being constantly likened to Beethoven in every review. There is no question, however that he earned his place amongst the great composers. His second symphony is one of his more cheerful compostions and was completed relatively quickly. It remains one of his most popular symphonic works. Front laminated flipback picture sleeve. The disc has an audiable mark on both sides, but the labels and sleeve are near mint.
