DEEP PURPLE Gemini Suite Live (2010 issue UK 3-track digitally remastered CD album - Throughout Jon Lord's long and varied musical career, his love of orchestral music has never been far from the surface. As far as most people are concerned, Deep Purple's Royal Albert Hall show in September 1969 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra marked the start of Lord's experimentation with rock and orchestral music. The performance at the RAH was so successful that Jon was quickly commissioned to write a second orchestral / rock piece. He decided to write a piece which took as its theme the five members of Deep Purple, with five solo movements, each written to reflect the musical abilities and playing style of the particular member and named after their star-sign. On the evening of September 17th 1970, the band took the stage of the Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank, with the Orchestra of the Light Music Society, to perform Jon Lord's 'Gemini Suite', conducted once more by Malcolm Arnold)
