ELVIS PRESLEY Presley Gold - 16 Number Ones Award (I think it is
safe to say, that in our 20+ years in the industry, we have yet to come
across a collection of items quite like this; a trio of unmistakable
beauty and rarity, all belonging to oneoutstanding individual - Mr
Philip A. Dexter. Dexter was RCA's former US label marketing
manager, whose achievements include the planning and marketing of
the now-rare Presley Gold - 16 Number One's singles box set, which is
the achievement this trio of items pertains to. Firstly, we have a
ONE OF A KIND 14"x10" [approx.] framed and glazed gold
disc, presented to Dexter by RCA in 1977, to recognise his work in
planning and marketing the aforementioned singles set. This amazing
in-house award features a gold 7" single, with black RCA label,
adorned with the collection title; positioned on red baize above an
engraved gold plaque. If this wasn't enough, also included with this
unique award is Philip's personal copy of the singles collection. Each 7"
single is presented with a factory sample label and housed in individual
picture sleeves, which in turn are collectively presented in a black &
gold picture card carrying box. This set, considering it's 33 years of
age, remains in superb condition. Completing this trio of related items
is a copy of Music Week magazine from April 1977, featuring an article
that documents the planned release of said box set - dated 3 months
before Presley's tragic passing. Individually, these items are great and
intriguing discoveries, but to find them together, with such a story, is a
one off and not to be missed!)
