ALICE COOPER Love It To Death (Extremely rare 1971 French
9-track LP pressed by Pathé Marconi, released long before the band
reached the main public consciousness in the mid seventies. Even in
those early days the band caused controversy by the inclusion of a
strategically placed thumb on the cover art of the front laminated
gatefold picture sleeve, causing it to be swiftly withdrawn & replaced
with a version less open to mis-interpretation, with the offending
thumb [& indeed the whole of his right arm] removed. Copies on
Straight are very hard to find now, because just a year later the
album was re-issued by Warner Brothers. There are actually four
different versions of the front cover art now [2009] but this is the very
first. Later issues on Straight & Warner Brothers were all censored.
Apart from being a very fine album indeed, the first overseen by Bob
Ezrin, this copy is in amazing condition. This copy has come from the
RTL Radio Reference Library & has been stamped & stickered on the
back & labels to that effect, consequently the vinyl has been carefully
handled from new & remains near mint despite being nearly forty
years old. You will be unlikely to ever find a better French copy than
this!)
