Tracklisting & More Information

With the arrival of Samson ex lead singer 'Bruce Dickinson' the band successfully overcome the loss of original lead singer from the first two albums 'Paul Di'Anno' and recorded 'The Number Of The Beast' album which had the radio hit 'Run To The Hills' released as a single.
Publicity abounded for the band as people branded them as Satanists due to the devil artwork that Derick Riggs had painted for the album cover. However, the fans quickly embraced Bruce who delivered a much more theatrical stage presence & better live vocal than his Paul Di'anno ever did.
Although Maiden was the opening act for lots of bands during the year it was this tour when it was decided they would never be an opening act ever again. The first headlining show of the tour took place in New York's Palladium which was broadcast live on US radio, this show has become the most bootlegged of any over the years.
This tour also marked Maiden's second appearance at the Reading Festival in London where Blackfoot's Rick Medlocke joined came on stage during their encore to play stunning version of the 'ZZ Top'classic 'Tush'. During the 'Beast On The Road' tour they opened for Rainbow, UFO, 38 Special, Scorpions, Foreigner, and Judas Priest, with such bands as The Rods, Girlschool, Blackfoot, Trust and Vandale all opening for Maiden!
