THE ZBIGNIEW NAMYSLOWSKI MODERN JAZZ QUARTET Lola (Rare 1964 UK first press 8-track deep groove Mono LP on the unboxed Decca label, starring the acclaimed alto saxophonist alongside Wlodzimierz [Wlodek] Gulgowski on piano, Tadeusz Wojcik, bass& drummer Czeslaw Bartkowski. Recorded at Decca Studios, London & opening with the marvellous original Pekna Lola, Kwiat Polnocy (Beautiful Lola, Flower Of The North) & closing with a lively version of Ol' Man River, this is, historically, the first album by a Polish jazz musician outside of Poland. This outstanding jazz rarity comes from the private collection of a former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross. The front laminated flipback picture sleeve has a 'Guarranteed' record shop stamp & a small letter annotation on the back, both unobtrusive to the print. The cover [VG+] shows just a little minor age yellowing & ring wear & a faint corner crease, with nice rich colours & all text is clearly legible including along the spine. The vinyl is nice & clean & grades EX/EX- with only a few faint spindle marks & a few light paper hairlines not affecting play. The sound is wonderful & the whole album is a mini masterpiece & comes highly recommended LK4644)
