Tracklisting & More Information
According to the press sheet from Stephanie Randall, the press officer from Liberty/UA at the time, Hawkwind are 'A six piece Electronic Rock Band who create a totally original sound'.
That was a lovely piece of understatement. This is the little seed from which the legend that is Hawkwind grew.
The band at the time were :-
Dave Brock - Vocals, 6 & 12 string guitar, harmonica & percussion.
John A. Harrison - Bass Guitarist
Terry Ollis - Drums
Dikmik - Electronics
Nick Turner - Alto Saxaphone
Hugh Lloyd-Langton - Lead Guitar
This is how they are described on the press sheet with Dave Brock also credited as 'composer of the group'
Both A & B sides of this history making 7" were composed by Dave Brock but it gave the world very little warning of the makeup of the rest of the forthcoming LP.
Condition :-
MINT - The labels are pristine & free from any spindlemarks, the vinyl is MINT (did I already mention that ?).
This is a custom Demo Label with intact four prong centre with 'DEMO RECORD NOT FOR SALE' text in the middle. Underneath the title at the top is the wording 'From the album "Hawkwind" available from August 14th on LBS83348' & just underneath the catalogue number at the right is the 31.7.70 official release date. Oh, and did I mention that it is mint ?
I mentioned right at the beginning that I never ever thought I would get to see one of these & probably, if I did, it would be wrecked. This copy has never left 1970!!
Coming from the vast personal collection of a former music reviewer & journalist, this record & its press sheet was played once, reviewed, then put safely away to remain untouched for over thirty years.
As a lifelong Hawkwind fan, seeing this brought a lump to my throat. This was MY stereo Black & Gold Please Please Me & there it was. It IS the Holy Grail of The Hawks [knocks the Sonic Attack 7" into touch] & it's 'as new', MINT !! (or did I already mention that ... ?)
