DAVID BYRNE The Knee Plays (2007 UK 2-disc set - David was invited to compose the 12-song piece [previously unreleased on CD] by avant-garde theatre director Robert Wilson as part of his 12-hour 'The Civil Wars' opera; his staging for the Opera evoked Japanese Kabuki theatre but David was clearly inspired by the sound of New Orleans & gospel music; the set comprises a 20-track CD album including 7 previously unreleased instrumental recordings plus Bonus DVD containing a slide show of black & white photos shot during the original production at 30-second intervals by JoAnn Verburg.
