SHAKIRA Pies Descalzos Wristband (2007 Colombian fundraising wristband sold in aid of Fundación Pies Descalzos ['Naked Feet Foundation'] - an organisation founded by Shakira in her hometown Barranquilla in 2001. The fabric wristband measures approximately 11" in length and is embroidered with the charity's 'footprint' logo and website address, plus 'Por menos niños...' text. A Spanish language leaflet is enclosed with details of the organisation's aims and contact information - allproceeds will be forwarded to them. 'Fundación Pies Descalzos' (which in English means 'Naked Feet') is a Colombian non-governmental organisation founded by Shakira in her hometown Barranquilla in 2001. The organisation is devoted to finding and providing new opportunities for children affected by the guerilla violence in the country through a number of programmes designed to improve education and nutrition.
Money raised from this campaign will go towards building another school in Corregimiento La Playa, Colombia and improving the infrastructure of existing schools. The schools are equipped with recreational activity areas, libraries and computer labs, giving the children a productive and enriched learning environment.
