| When he was just 12 years old, Ricky Martin became a member of Menudo and for the next five year helped them become stars. He left in 1989 and following a few months of inactivity, he began to work his way back into the entertainment industry. He released his self-titled debut album, which became a sizable hit on the Latin charts. Two years later, he followed it with 'Me Amaras', which was an even bigger hit, launching him to superstar status in Latin America. After a brief stint on Broadway, he released his third album, 'A Medio Vivir', a record that had a harder rock edge, yet also featured the usual Latin flare and style. His international breakthrough came in 1999 with his fifth album - which was his first English-language pop album called simply 'Ricky Martin'.
