PHILAMORE LINCOLN North Wind Blew South (2010 issue UK 10-track CD album - One of the most mysterious albums of the late Sixties, British singer / songwriter Philamore Lincoln's US-only release The 'North Wind Blew South', has attracted plenty of conjecture over the years, much of it concerning the alleged involvement of the Yardbirds [Chris Dreja took the album photo, while Jimmy Page contributed a fierce lead guitar break to one of the standout tracks, 'You're The One']. This first-ever official reissue of a much-counterfeited set finally sets the record straight about the elusive Mr. Lincoln and his highly convoluted musical history. More importantly, it also allows British psychedelic pop fans to hear a superb but highly obscure album, whose baroque string arrangements, evocative flute, breathy vocals and cryptic, mystical lyrics occupy much the same territory as Donovan's work during the psych-pop era – particularly on the stunning, hypnotic title track, which remains one of the undiscovered classics of the British psychedelic pop genre) more...

PHILAMORE LINCOLN The North Wind Blew South (For an album of great mystery, recorded in England but released only in the US in 1970, this one has become the stuff of legend. With back cover picture taken by Yardbird Chris Dreja who, along withacertain James Patrick Page were also rumoured to play on the album, the album was engineered by no less than one Glyn Johns, produced by James Wilder & with sleeve design by John Kosh AND it was released on Epic. That's a lot of heavyweightsfor a person that released just the one LP. The other strange thing was that his song 'Temma Harbour' became a hit for Mary Hopkin even before his own version was released here. You can do your own sums - The Epic & Yardbirds connections, the Apple / Glyn Johns / John Kosh / Mary Hopkin connection - a riddle indeed. Here is a fine copy of that very rare ten track solo LP. The sleeve is in beautiful condition with just a little edge scuffing & the vinyl appears barely played with just a couple of paper scuffs to show for its years - a fantastic copy of this hard to find psyche/folk/pop legend!
