ANDREW HILL Point Of Departure (1964 US first press 5-track mono LP on the 'New York USA' address label, with the 'ear' markings & the 'Van Gelder' stamps in the run-outs. This is still one of the ultimate Blue Note dates that pointed the way tothe future for jazz, with expert backing from Eric Dolphy, Joe Henderson, Richard Davis & Anthony Williams. The cover grades VG- with a split to top edge & visible natural discolouring. There is light edge scuffing & all text is legible except along the spine. The heavyweight vinyl grades VG & does display signs of age, with paper hairlines & light paper scuffs on both sides but this has little effect on play. A nice example & as a first issue, this is a must own for the Blue Note collection BLP4167)
