I Favolosi - 1st - VG

THE BEATLES I Favolosi (Stunning original Italian 'With The Beatles' mono LP issued in February 1964 on the incredibly rare red Parlophon label, in the legendary unique fully laminated flipback picture sleeve. Normally this album is found in poor to fair condition at best, but this copy is far better and whilst not mint, it is still in a very respectable VG/VG- condition. A little chipping to the laminate round the edges does not detract from the richness of the colours & the back panel is a gorgeous off white. The heavyweight vinyl is impressively clean with no blemishes to the label's print. There are a handful of light paper hairline scratches as to be expected but these have little to no effect on play. A very nice collector's piece PMCQ31503)

Tracklisting & More Information

Background

Sixties Italian albums appear to be almost equally scarce and often found in less than Good condition. Beatles albums are no exception to this rule, covers are often torn, records badly scratched and labels barely legible, yet their scarcity and differences make them highly sought-after among collectors.

Between 1963 and early 1965 Beatles albums were issued in mono only on a red "Parlophon" label, these are some of the rarest Beatles items to find in any condition! In mid 1965 Parlophone started issuing Beatles albums on a silver and black label, again the logo read "Parlophon" without the 'e'. This lasted until 1968 when all albums were reissued in Stereo and the labels changed to "Parlophone" with the 'e'.

The condition of Italian records generally is less than than those from the UK, US or other European Countries, but collectors are usually prepared to accept inferior quality items due to the scarcity of these unique Italian LPs. While this copy is not mint, it is also far above the average for a copy of this record.
Red label Italian original LP's have been compared in scarcity to UK black and gold Parlophone labels in that they are almost never found in anything but poor condition. They were available in MONO only.

Condition:-

The labels are deep red finish with bright silver "Parlophon" logo and tracklisting also in silver. There are a few light marks around the spindlehole on both sides, signifying minimal play, and certainly not excessive.

The Matrix Numbers are machine stamped, they are as follows

Side One XEX 447 1
Side Two XEX 448 2

The date 4 2 64 has also been machine stamped into the dead vinyl. This was the date of this first red label issue.

The vinyl has several light surface marks, but the deep grooves of this solid sixties pressing certainly minimise the effect, although some clicks can be heard.
The vinyl would be graded VG- & certainly plays through without fault.

The sleeve is unique to Italy and is fully laminated with flipbacks & Italian sleeve notes on the back, including their Birthdays!
This sleeve has survived the last 40 years with no major defects. All edges, including the pinched spine, show just a little wear with minimal age yellowing.
There are some areas of laminate lift & minor creasing, but once again nothing excessive, with the worst being a small area of scuffing to the bottom edge.
Once again, the sleeve would be graded a VG-

A great foreign sixties pressing in very acceptable & above average condition for a fraction of the price of an almost mythical mint copy>
