Based on the Rodgers & Hammerstein Broadway musical, the film was directed by Robert Wise and brought the story of the Von Trapp family to the screen. Earning 5 Academy Awards, the film was the top grossing film of its time and to this day is still the #1 movie musical of all time. The soundtrack is a classic in its own right. With the stunning vocals of Julie Andrews, the vocal and orchestral favourites include 'So Long, Farewell', 'Do-Re-Mi', 'Sixteen Going on Seventeen' and 'My Favourite Things'. This anniversary edition is expanded with a Bonus Version of 'My Favourite Things' by Glee's Lea Michele. Comes complete with a picture booklet containing an extensive and newly-updated 1500-word liner notes essay ['I'll Sing Once More: The Sound of Music Lives On'] written by Bert Fink, SVP of Communications for Rodgers & Hammerstein, alongside rare photographs recently discovered in the Fox archives)
